Yeah, I said it. GT gets way too much hate, and I'm tired of pretending it's all bad.
What GT Got RIGHT:
1. Super Saiyan 4 — Still the coolest transformation design in all of Dragon Ball. The red fur, the eyeliner, the tail coming back. SSJ4 Gogeta is peak character design. Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego look clean, but SSJ4 looks like a WARRIOR.
2. The Shadow Dragon Saga — The concept of Dragon Ball overuse having consequences is genuinely brilliant. Using the Dragon Balls has been consequence-free for decades, and GT said "actually, what if that broke reality?" That's great sci-fi writing.
3. Baby Vegeta — Baby as a villain is actually creative. A Tuffle parasite taking over Vegeta and turning Earth's population against Goku? That's a more interesting plot than half of what Super's filler arcs gave us.
4. The Ending — GT's finale is emotional and final in a way Dragon Ball rarely allows itself to be. Goku riding away on Shenron, the time skip, an older Pan. It felt like a real conclusion to the story.
What GT Got WRONG:
- The first 20 episodes (Black Star Dragon Ball hunt) are rough
- Pan was underutilized despite being a main character
- Super 17 arc was weak
- Power scaling was all over the place
My Take:
GT is a 6.5/10 show with 9/10 moments. If you skip the first 20 episodes and start at the Baby arc, it's genuinely good Dragon Ball content. The hate it gets is mostly because it's "not canon," but canon status doesn't determine quality.
GT defenders, unite. And GT haters — tell me why I'm wrong. But you better not just say "it's not canon" because that's not an argument.
